Thread: Polaris tie rods

    Default Polaris tie rods

I read you can change the front tie rods from going over the top, to under and gain enough clearence to run 10in wide front tires. Anyone try this and if so, is there anything special we need to know?

    Thanks.

I did this to Ranger a few years ago. You will need to readjust the toe in and might still need a couple washers behind the wheel. On another Ranger we stuck with 9 inch Mudlites and still put two washers behind the wheel. I would rather have 1 inch spacers then worry about tearing up the tie rod boot. Once the boot rips the tie rod end goes bye bye really fast.

Are there any drawbacks to the spacers? Im sure the geometry is changed a bit by pushing the tire out without using an offset wheel. Any more wear, handling issues etc?

With the tires sticking out more they will have more leverage on the handlebars and cause a little more jerking of the bars in some conditions. Some people don't like it, but to most it doesn't matter.
