    Default Dall ram near Fairbanks

Some will call this a line of BS but I am being absolutely honest. There has been a Dall sheep ram, appx 3 y/o, spotted about 30 miles north of Fairbanks. I know of at least 10 people who have seen it. I have not seen it personally but I did see its picture. It has been hanging out in the same immediate area for several days. Naturally, I'm not giving its location but I thought you all would find this interesting. How the........???

If true, I would bet he doesn't last long. A dall sheep out of the mountains is a sitting duck for a wolf or bear. He'd better find him some mountains quickly, or he'll be dinner for a predator.

Question Heard of a sheep at the Yukon River

I heard of a sheep at Pump Station 6, just south of the Yukon River on the Dalton Highway. This was a few months ago. One of the the guys I worked with there, I understand has pictures. I work on making contact with the individual.

So, it is hard to believe a sheep that far south, I don't think it is BS quite yet. Of course, we have all heard of the polar bear taken by either near Beaver or Ft Yukon.

Well, 30 miles north of town isn't too far from the White Mountains.

My estimate is around 50 miles from the white mountains. This sheep is STILL in the exact same area as last week.....saw it yesterday!

Cool I had this talk years ago with fish and game..

hers how it goes.. i found a sheep on a bluff off the tannana river...top of the hill was all trees... between shaw creek and birch lake... went to fish and game with pic's..and got this low down... for starters ; THEY think/are dam sure that ALL dall sheep came from the white mts north of fbks (long ago)... and that the one i seen down toward delta was more than like'ly part of a "band "that left the ak range ..ran down the delta river and he's all that made it. it's how they "move the gene's around" ... i guess there about rite as i have found "beaver" in the midde of no where...NO water for miles... or how's about that mtn pond ...miles from the nearest creek/water source..get that beaver or musk rat? i seen that.

Probably one of those fake mechanica sheep the cops put out to catch poachers shooting from the road / out of season / etc ....... Do you think they know it is a bit misplaced (just kidding)

    Thumbs up I have pictures..

Of a young ram at Pump Station 6, about 1 mile south of the Yukon River. It appears to be a fall photo as the grass is brown and the mountains in the background have snow on them. I will confirm details of the sheep tomorrow, and post the pictures tomorrow night.

    Good stuff, Ice. Very cool.
Yeah, Perry likely nailed this one...That young ram is likely from West of Beaver/Opher/McCay area...or maybe as far north as Montana Creek south of Mt. Prindle @ 80+ mile on the Steese. That country gets very rugged to the west.
One thing is certain, he has crossed a lot of wooded terrain!
He'll be wolf lunch for sure if he doesn't start heading to higher ground.

Interesting. Sheep do show up in some odd places especially the further north you go. I feel kinda bad for the guy all out there alone.
