    Default Spruce burls

    Whats the biggest you've seen?

And what kind of a price do you set on one, or what would spend on one?

The reason I ask is I have 2 that are fairly good size,( 1 That is over 2' straight across with smaller burls going up to another big one, and another log that is even more awesome.) They are already peeled, just curious of what they might be worth.

I've seen them on craigslist for over a grand; doesn't necessarily mean anyone bought them for that much

The light spots are where I took a sander to them, just to see what would bring them back to life.

If you mix 5 parts water to 1 part bleach, spray it on then rinse off with the water hose, it will look like they were just pealed. No sanding or scrubbing required.
It ain't about the # of pounds of meat we bring back, nor about how much we spent to go do it. Its about seeing what no one else sees.

    Default Wouldnt Sell them

I wouldnt sell them! I'd use them to make something cool. This website has some great ideas about what to make. www.alaskanwildwoods.com. Mostly log stuff but a couple of pics of some tables.

Dick Prennokie (sp?) found a huge one and made a table out of it. It is in his video One Man's Wilderness. That is tha biggest I have seen.

Thanks for the info guys, heard about the bleach treatment, but did'nt know how much to use.

And no Greythorn3 there not for sale for $50

I might cut them up, but we'll see.

I think the biggest on I've seen was about 6' across, an old timer was bringing it out of the woods on a cat sled. ( It was pretty rotted on the outside.

    Thanks again guys.

You can use strait bleach, but it takes more washing and is no more effective. Also the straight bleach will kill flowers and shrubs, the mix will not. Ask how I know
