Default Low Water level at Lake Louise

    People,
I just wanted to mention that the water level is low at Lake Louise. Launching a larger boat will be tougher as the launch is running out of depth. Stay clear of the points and islands ESPECIALLY near Bird Island and the small chain north of it. There are rocks 3-6 inches out of the water in places where you can usually run a jet boat without harm (don't ask how I know ).

Maintain 1/2 mile between you and the western shore from Larsen Bay north for a mile (past the beach and the weeds). It is very shallow.

I did not try the channel to Susitna. Boats were going through it.

It was moonless and when it got dark, it got VERY dark, VERY fast.

    Be safe!!

    Mike

Well at least now we can see them with all that shiney stuff you left behind!!

Besides, it adds character to your hull......

Aluminum skid marks make great channel and obstacle markers!

On a serious note I hope you have no more issues out there this fall Mike.

I just took the moss off the rocks. No damage. The bottom of my Wooly looks like a granny runs it. No shiney or brown skid marks either!!!! 6 feet to the right and I would have used my superhuman, immediate action braking system.

Labor Day seems to be quite popular and I just wanted people to know to watch for the hazards.
