    Default POW Alpine Photos

In an attempt to lighten the sheep mood on here I figured I would throw in a few photos from the Coffman area that I got from my last guys who just left the island.

No need to count annuli, look for full curl, or broken horns - any male deer is legal!!

I met these guys through the forum here and they wanted to come up on a deer/fishing expedition. They ended up with 2 deer in the alpine, lots of silvers and pinks, crabs, and a few Pennsylvania halibut. They wanted to post on their trip so I figured I would let them explain that one.

Anyway here are some photos from the Ripepi's trip to the alpine.

    Default Sunset

They ended up seeing 50 deer and 12 bucks that day. Some big, some small, but they had a blast, although the weather looked nice I guess they were fogged in most of the time so they were lucky to get a few and see some. Large bucks have started to rub out now, saw a 4X3 with eyegaurds that was bone yesterday, may have to get one before I go to the Peninsula!

    Enjoy, Gooch

Here is a photo of Etolin Island across the Strait from Coffman for those of you heading there elk hunting this fall! Also a nice old growth photo from their walk up.

One of my sons went over on the ferry yesterday and will be staying in Coffman. He said he planned on camping in the alpine, told him he better check the weather 'cause a big blow coming in. His tent will probably end up half way to Etolin.

    Default Nasty

We've got 300 gallons of water off one roof today! Anyway the weather is pretty bad for a few days here so it may be best to do a bit of lowland hunting. Hopefully he doesn't get blown off the mtn! I am heading up Wednesday AM for a day trip to alpine hopefully get a biggie.

    Tell the boy good luck!

Didn't know you'd finally gotten back.

We'll see if we can work out something.

    Default Deer!

Well the weather was nasty last night but I figured I may as well go up the mountain to see if I could get one during as lull. I tried to get my trusty hunting buddy to go but he wasn't having it. As I was hiking over a muskeg patch I saw a deer. First photo it was pretty far.

    Default Not big enough

Tried calling him in with no luck so I stalked up to the trophy. Couldn't couldn't the rings so I passed.

Actually it was too small but a pretty deer none the less. Saw only about 6 deer last night, the weather had them put down. Enjoy!

Great looking scenery and an awesome trophy beagle!! My two beagles would go nuts in that alpine.

I see your trusty hunting buddy decided to chose the comfort of a warm fire over slogging through the wet brush! Your partner isn't the only one that does that from time to time.
