    Default Hatcher Pass Hunting?

    Looking to head out to Hatcher Pass for moose. How is this area and any areas to stay away from?

    Just ask one of the 200 other people that will be up there on opening day! Ever since wheelers became so popular and affordable, the traffic up there has gotten intense. I grew up on the Willow side of Hatcher pass rd. and it has changed a LOT since the early 80's.

    There are moose up there, but there is stiff competition. Best advice is to get back in a fair distance and get off your wheeler! Do some walking and get away from the wheeler trails. There are a lot of hunters up there who never get off their bikes (and rarely see anything worthwhile...). Get in the woods where visibility from high ground is limited and that is where you will find animals.
