I was just looking to see if anyone has any experience trapping North of Murphy Dome, with the many little creeks and ponds it seems like a good place to try and close to home but with that in mind does anyone know if it is trapped heavily? Just looking for areas to go without stepping on any other fellow trappers lines. Thanks

    Default Trapped pretty heavy

I trap both the elliot hwy and the steese hwy, along with alot of other trappers. Best bet is to find a likely area and ook for trapping sign, I mark my lines with signs, " trapline, traps in trails 1 nov-1mar, along with phone #... etc. Alot of little areas for trapping just have to put in the time scouting

AKtrpr what do you usually use for sets, I bought some #3 and #5 bridger coil springs w/ a swivel and 8' of chain for cubbies and 20 160'S for marten and I plan on getting a few snares as well. Do you guys get many marten in this area? Looking at the trappers harvest report I picked up today it seems that the Pop. of lynx is on the upswing now? I could not find any info on wolf or marten becuase they do not require sealing.

Walk through & cubbies for lynx, usually use a # 3 or # 4 jump trap for the lynx, if not a jump then a #3 or #4 double longspring for the lynx. for marten I use an leaning pole set w/ #1 longspring, or a baited cubby with a 120 conibear, never used a 160 though but I'm sure it would work for the marten. Havent gotten a wolf yet but plenty of fox.

Yes it is being trapped so don't be surprised to have a note left at your set
