Default 2nd Annual AODD Poker Run

Ok folks, we are trying to see what interest there would be in having another AODD Poker Run like we did last year and when/where we would get the best turn out for people. What do you guys think? Vote your preference if you truly intend to be there...

I forgot to add that you can choose more than one answer (both when & where).

For the two votes for "Somewhere else...make a suggestion"...we need your suggestions. Where else do you want to hold this event? Keep in mind we need a place that will handle 100+ folks for parking and a trail that will do the same. Give us some ideas!!!

almost forgot...It also needs to be "kid ATV" (50cc - 90cc) friendly so we can get the kids out there and enjoying a great family day.

    Hatcher Pass.

Close to town, TONS of trails in a 4 mile stretch
We do not go to the green woods and crystal waters to rough it, we go to smooth it. We get it rough enough at home; in towns and cities; in shops, offices, stores, banks anywhere that we may be placed

I voted for Jim Creek but for kids atvs, Sutton might be a better choice since there isn't the creek crossings. Lots of parking and close enough to Anchorage to get them to show. Probably have to map out a circular run and ensure good signage to minimize folks losing the route. With the road from Slipper Lake up to the mine there would be enough room to get them started without a massive traffic jam you would see on a two-track. Come down the far side and run the westerly trails from there hoping everyone has dispersed enough not to bottleneck too badly. Finding open areas to have check points after that could be tricky.

Looking at getting my kid a 90 by then and that would be a fun time for her!

Another option is instead of an official "Poker Run", we could organize an ATV fun day with events and contests? It might be easier to find a riding area that way. We could have a central location for the events/food/etc... maybe even set up an awning or two and let people come and go as they please to check out the area. A few prizes for the contest winners and a few grills set up for BBQ'ing any food folks want to bring.

Just think....no lines waiting for a card !

Hey Vince, how about the Rex trail? Oh wait, is that the one with the 40" max width restriction? I'd love to try that trail out once.

Lightbulb Ferry Trail AOD poker run - Not in South Central AK

So Vince, where is the thread where you're organizing this?

Is this a "North vs. South" affair? Watch out, we outnumber you I think...

Vince, I am not familiar with the trails up north but if you and some of the forum folks from up there are willing to put an event together and post all the information on the forum I will try my best to make it. Should be fun!!!!

Now that I can bring the Nodwell up there (rex trail) again I'll just strap a lazyboy on the back and you can throw lines to the terminally stuck.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming-----WOW-----what a ride!
