    Default How shallow can a Zodiac run?

    With a outboard jet on it of course.
    Looking at a sheep hunt, and it will be a super shallow river, a long ways from here, and i don't want to take the Wooldridge. I've got a MkII Zod, and have access to an OB Jet.
    Thks gents

    Test it out before you go, as I've heard there can be issues with the engines cavitating.

    There is one surefire way to find out how shallow you can run

    Default pretty shallow but...

    They run very shallow...easily 4 inches. Less if you risk it....the risk is that if you grind down the fabric glued to the bottom of the transom, you'll have a couple inches of water in the boat for the rest of the trip. Makes it hard to keep meat dry. You'll still float fine, but might not get on step. Hopefully your route is upstream first and float out.

    The nice thing about zodiacs is they are super easy to get off of sandbars.

    Default how deep

    How far below the transom does the Jet need to be mounted to keep from cavitating? My GRIII has a slight "V" at the back - - thinking of jetting it next year.

    Soooo.... how did it work out?

    I'm thinking too of getting a raft + small OBJ for running the upper reaches - wondering pros/cons/handling with the jet/etc...

    Never did try it out, went up a different river.
    I have heard the way to do it is use wooden blocks under the OB until you get just the right height to avoid cavitation, then build the Aluminium riser.
    Never wrestle with a pig.
    you both get dirty;
    the Pig likes it.
