Default .375 Ruger 300 grain TSX?

Has anyone loaded 300 grain TSX for the .375 Ruger? I'm about a 100% certain I'm going to buy one in the near future and was wondering how they are shooting for people and what kind of velocities people are attaining? Info on 300 grain Barnes banded solids would be appreciated as well. Thanks.

I shoot them out of my 375 H&H and they are very accurate. I'm getting near 2500 fps with them so your .375 Ruger should do about 1-200 fps better. Never loaded the solids.

I've loaded the 300 TSX with a few powders and had reasonable accuracy at low velocities. When trying to achieve factory velocities the accuracy went way in my rifle.

I've had very good success with the Barnes 270TSX. It is now my pet load for the .375 Ruger.

    Jack 49,

I had an H&H and just sold it to buy the Ruger. I shot 300 TSX from it with good results and still have quite a few left over, so I figured I'd work up loads with them.

    Marshall,

What kind of groups with the 300s at high velocity? What was the velocity when they shot well? What's the velocity on your 270s? Thanks.

I've settled on a TSX 270gr load that puts 4-5 touching every time.

I included the 300gr Sierra Game King loads for grins, they shot well. Don't substitute the TSX for the Game King data, totally different bullet shape and construction.

I don't remember the 300gr TSX data and didn't store it on my lap top. I'm away from home right now and will return Tuesday, I'll dig it up and post if your still interested.

The 300gr TSX shot well in the low 2500's. Groups over 1.5 inches appeared as velocities increased. I wasn't able to reach Hornady's advertised 300gr velocities prior to high pressure signs using the TSX.

I have several 300gr TSX at home and a few pounds of RL-17 that I've been planning on testing, perhaps it will work out. I've been a little short on time and the 270 TSX is working so well.

    RL-15 @ 74.0gr 2756fps
    Brass trim 2.571
    CCI 250
    Barnes TSX 270gr
    COL 3.313
measured ogive .124 off in my rifle
100 yard group measured at .488"

    RL-15 @ 73.0gr 2654fps
    Brass trim 2.571
    CCI 250
    Sierra Game King 300gr
    COL 3.380"
measured ogive .045 off in my rifle

100 yard group measured at 0.93"

    RL-19 @ 83.0gr 2653fps
    Brass trim 2.571
    CCI 250
    Sierra Game King 300gr
    COL 3.380"
measured ogive .045 off in my rifle

100 yard group measured at 0.89"

These recipes work well in my rifle in my climate, your results may vary. Consider this data as reference only and work carefully.

Thank you for the info. If you can find the 300 grain TSX data that would be great. No hurry though.

Yeah, but I don't think the bears or our shoulder want you to try it on them!!!!

    Brett,

I just got home, here is the data that I saved on the 300gr TSX.

These are not max loads in my rifle. Accuracy was best in each case as listed below. All three recipes shot right at an inch consistently but velocity is pretty slow for the potential of this cartridge. There is wiggle room if your after more speed, just work up carefully, every rifle is different.

I plan on testing with RL-17 and the 300gr TSX when I get a few free days to ring it out. Right now I have a real tack driver in the 270gr TSX and I don't want to screw anything up prior to my September moose hunt.

    Win 760 @ 78.5gr 2558fps
    Brass trim 2.571
    CCI 250
    Barnes TSX 300gr
    COL 3.300

    RL-15 @ 70.0gr 2476fps
    Brass trim 2.571
    CCI 250
    Barnes TSX 300gr
    COL 3.300

    Big Game @ 75.6gr 2511fps
    Brass trim 2.571
    CCI 250
    Barnes TSX 300gr
    COL 3.300

If I can get 1.25" or better at 100 yards with a 300 TSX going at least 2550 I'll be happy. Ideally 1" or better at 2600ish, but we'll see. Thanks!
