Default A question about rod selection.

    Hi guys,

Well I'm going to try it on my own. What type of ugly stick rod should I get to go fishing on the Russian for reds?

    What lb line?

What rod for silvers? What lb line.

    Thanks in advance.

I have had good luck with a medium heavy ugly stick light and 25 pound mono for both reds and silvers.

Well after slinging the top half of my rod out more than a few times casting, I got rid of all my old rods and now I have nothing but ONE PIECE Ugly Stik rods! And I will never have a two piece rod again!

    Medium heavy rods for salmon
Light rod for trout and grayling

8' medium heavy 20-30lb test. Doesnt necessarily have to be an ugly stik. They are decent rods and almost indestructable but the tips are too flimsy for my taste, they dont allow a very good hook set. Any salmon/steelhead specific rod works, I like Lamiglas. They have a cheaper walmart line now with a couple rods under $100. I have one I use for reds and I like it alot better than an ugly stik.
