Any reports on Ice Fishing from the valley south?
Just want to get some reports before I head out this week? Ice thickness? Any hot baits I should bring?

There is a lot of ice on all of the anchorage area lakes. Take your pick and you should be able to catch some fish. Best bait for trout/char: roe and shrimp; northerns: herring or hooligan. Like I mentioned, most stocked lakes should put fish in your bucket. The salmon this year F&G stocked in mirror lake are very small. Caught some last weekend that were about 5" long...yeah. Looked at their stocking database and that looks like the norm this year for the lakes they stocked them in. I suppose it has something to do with the hatchery situation here.
Good Luck!
