    Exclamation Fire and Smoke Warning

The National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning this includes the Taylor Highway/Chicken area. There is dense smoke in the area. You can check the DOT road cameras for Northway and Eagle to get a sense of the smoke that is in the area. If you are hunting in the area be safe. There is still a high fire danger. Remember Chicken almost burned up a few years ago.

Very smokey today, couldn't even see the mountains in Black Rapids on the other side of the Delta River from the Rich. Visibility was probably only 200 yards in some spots. But the wind can pick up at any time and blow that stuff out of there. Its been hazy (smokey) in the Alaska Range for the last week.

    Default Correction

Correction to my post. The web cams for Eagle and Northway are on the FAA aviation web cameras site. Checked both the state DOT and FAA web cams and it is very smoky all the way up the road.

I was out there this morning. It was bad enough that you couldn't see any of the hills on either side of the road and it was noticeably hazy between me and my target at the 36.5 mile shooting range. The rain doesn't seem to be helping much. There is also a fire out toward the end of the road. It was less than 100 acres last I heard, but don't know if they've been able to put it out yet or not.

It must still be pretty bad. we already got the heads up for quite a few diversions of 757's into anchorage cuz they cant get into FAI. Also a couple of canadian water droppers that are just sitting idle here cuz of it.

I sure hope it rains like hell in the interior.
