MATANUSKA VALLEY SPORTSMEN’S ASSOCIATION
The range re-opened Sunday, July 12th following an “Open House” from 12:00- 4:00 PM. The range shutdown from May 1st until July 11thth was needed in order to complete necessary repairs to the range backstop and range floor. All memberships will be extended by two months past their expiration date.
The Re-Opening Open House on July 12 was attended by several members. Many thanks to Noel and Jean Woods for the excellent sandwiches and treats they brought. Thanks also to Jay Wickham for the delicious smoked salmon and Brenda Montgomery for the scrumptious brownies. If you missed the Open House, you missed a good time and some great food.
Work Party Thanks!!!
MVS thanks the many volunteers who have helped out with the backstop repair and floor upgrade this summer.
Thanks to project leader, Brian Pinney, without whose help this project could not have been accomplished on time with the budget we had. MVS also thanks Earl Lackey for his generous donation of labor and an engine lift to help remove and replace those very heavy backstop plates.
MVS also offers thanks to Leonard Toop who helped out despite having surgery on one foot.
Many thanks are also offered to those who helped with cleanup after the project: Paul Brown, Rudy Campos, John Erfurth, Patrick Lewis, and others.
I was honored to work with these individuals. They exemplify the volunteer spirit that makes this organization great. I know there are some people whom I’ve left out, and I extend apologies to these in advance.

Each session was comprised of a presentation of concerning gun safety, shooting sports and recreation, or other related topics followed by range time. This program was attended by an average of eight to ten ladies per evening. There were a variety of presenters for Ladies’ Night from Muzzleloaders to a member of the Alaska Machine Gun Club.
