Biggest thing is to get there and get settled in for winter. Once you are there you will fine you can do things just about anywhere.

It usually starts in October, sometimes September when things start cooling down, but past few years, no snow until October. Sometimes it'll be -20F for Thanksgiving. Made for good ice fishing though!

Enjoy the move, best to be mostly settled by winter's onset; have the vehicles winterized shortly after getting here! Most shops will have winterization specials.

Hiking trails are all over the place, for the motorized trails, there's plenty of places to hit as well.

For one online search, go to http://www.explorefairbanks.com It's the visitors bureau, you'll find good information there as well.

Hey! Welcome to the North Pole area!
We would LOVE to have you guys over for dinner sometime.

Here are a few things about North Pole area.
    Schools:
    North Pole Elementary
    Badger Road Elementary
    Ticasuk Brown Elementary

    North Pole Middle School

    North Pole High School

Star of the North Charter School

    North Pole Christian School

    Homeschools are:
    IDEA
    Chugach Home School
    Cyber Links
    Raven Correspondence
BEST (Through the school district which is new)

Everything you will need will be in 'town': Gas station. Safeway/Carrs. Sentry Hardware. Post Office. Banks. Fast Food. Library. Churches.

Everything is a little more expensive out here than in Fairbanks, so if you want to do a thorough grocery shop and fill up on gas, Fairbanks is the place to go.

Let me know if you'd like to get together. I could show you around and welcome you over. We have kidlets, too... so if you would like to stop over for coffee and we can let the kids play on the airstrip or the pond, we can do that.

Welcome to North Pole.. and Alaska at that. It is what you make of it.

Oh my GOODNESS! I had no idea that you are here now. If you need some help unpacking, the daughter and I have nothing going on in the morning tomorrow and we can help you unpack.
If you would like to get together for coffee soon, there is a Polar Expresso right on Badger Rd or even Dalman's Family Restaurant right across the street. If you are on the complete other side of Badger Road, we can easily meet in Fairbanks. I have other nice coffee places that I go to in town.
Or really... I don't mind, you can feel free to come on over, too. We don't have cats or dogs, but we do have moose, chickens, and ducks. I can serve up some local North Pole coffee or some Dead Man's Reach.
Just let me know what works for you.
    I'll PM you my ##.
