Our brussels sprouts never look like they amount to much until the weather turns cool. Then the sprouts quickly develop and continue to enlarge even after hard frosts have killed-off the other garden plants. Be patient.

maybe they need the darkness? i was told my corn will need to be covered with a black bag to correctly germinate...and sprout...

    Default B-Sprouts and corn

I'll wait. The plants are much larger then last year. I planted the corn so late but can move it up to the deck and give it a temp greenhouse, until I give up all together. Last year we had some small 1/2 edible ears and a bunch of immature ears for sturfry. I just went out and hand pollinated, shook the stalks. I can try the bags too when they start to pollinate. Not even silks yet so we maybe out of luck for 2009, hey maybe I'll bring them into my office/garage. Be a nice conversation piece.
Here is a photo of the corn last year http://tinyurl.com/akcorn09
Pretty stalks 5 per 5 gallon bucket they were 6ft tall
