Default Winchester Mod 97 12 Ga barrels

I inherited a mod 97 winchester 12 gauge. I hate to see it collect dust in the safe. It has a 30" full choke barrel and I would like to go to a 18 or 20 " cylinder bore barrel. Looking online i see options for a takedown barrel but it does not look the same as my barrel. Can Anybody offer any advice?

Getting the headspace correct can take some doing on the 97's and 12's if you have never done it before. The barrel can be removed from the take down block that adjust fit to the reciver. So many of these fine old guns have been cut down and ruined for future hunters by the SASS folks. You might check NuLine guns and see if they could help with what you need. Also on the guns for sale section theres has been a couple of 97's already cut down for a fair price

Many thanks! The weapon is a family heirloom.
