Default How big is this halibut?

I am talking to what I believe is a heckler and he is claiming its right @ 200lbs. Then again, maybe he is right?

Your opinion please! (I'm currently at lunch with him and I'm having doubts.) What guesstimate would you give?

it is more then 48inches.. look at in compaired to the average 32" inseams standing around it... your friend may be close... i guessed 180... right off..and will hold that.

A 200lb halibut is going to be 6' long. - According to the tidebook.

    I'd give that one 120#.

    Default less than 100

that fish is not 200 pounds...my vote would be 100 or less.

We bonked a 63 inch fish 3 weeks ago - I am 6'4 at 240 pounds and she was all I wanted to hold up for a photo - at 130 pounds she was much much bigger than the fish in that pik.

    Default Good Fish but...

It's tough to tell. If the boat deck is 5 ft wide I would say it's 200 but I"m guessing it's about 120.

A quick comparsion measurement from the pics puts that fish at about 55 to 56 inches which gives it a live weight of approximately 85 pounds.

I used the step which appears to be about 10 inches as my comparsion for measurement. If you look at the man standing on the left with his left foot on the step it appears that his left foot is about where a 10 inch high boot would be on his foot on the deck.

Well I showed the picture to my wife and daughter and with no help from me>>>>>> My wife said 80 pounds, the daughter said 90 pounds. So "NO FISH STORIES" here and they should know because they have hauled a bunch of our fish onto the boat and up the ramps over the years.

    Default 80

I vote 80 or a little less, unless all those guys standing in the background are 8 ft tall and wear size 20 shoes.

I am guessing 140-160 using the feet in the photo as a guide. Another thing is the size of its mouth as it is much larger than one we caught a couple of weeks ago that weighed 108.
But to answer your question, no way is it a deuce.
