Thread: Johnson Pass Trail

    Default Johnson Pass Trail

I've got the wife and friends signed up to bike Johnson Pass trail in a few weeks in one day. From some hiking sites I've read, it's advised to bike south to north and wear pants and long sleeves due to cows parsnip and devils club. I've never been on the trail and am asking for any other advice or suggestions from recent travellers.

How long will it take? Wife and friends are fairly active.

    Thanks

I've always gone north to south and the trip is fine. I think the suggestion about the cows parsnip is a good one although in this heat it might be a bit tough. One of the things to think about is water, there is plenty of it around, do you want to drink it filtered or unfiltered or carry your water along with you? I think the longest we've taken to ride it is 9 hours but that included a short nap up by Bench Lake and some fishing to break it up a bit. Normally I think its 6 hours or so of easy pace.
