Default New to fishing in Alaska & need advice

I'm moving to Alaska soon and I'm wondering if a bass fishing rod and reel have any place in Alaska. The reason I ask is because I'm being offered what seems to be a good trade for a rifle scope that I have little use for at the time. Here is the reelhttp://www.quantumfreshwaterfishingreels.com/accurist_cx.htm and I'm not sure what the weight of the rod is.

    Thanks, Mike

    You may need both.
The rod and reel will work for Silvers and Sockey.
You may want to put a rifle under the scope.
