Default Homer report Almost the best day ever

Finally got a chance to team up with (Jim) Boneybaits. We headed out to a secret location. The weather was great so we had to take advantage of it. Jim, put us on fish right away. The hole day rods were bent. People were getting cramps in there arms from all the big fish that we caught. Here are a few pictures of my fishing trip out of Homer. Good news is the fishing was the best ever. Halibut biggest was #50 and the rest were #25-#40 and the biggest ling was #70. 3 were in the #60 class and the other in the 50's

The Almost part of Living the Dream... While filleting the lings, a lady asked me a question . I was just about done with a fillet (at the tail end of the fish) as I started to cut downward I looked up... What HAPPENED next? The fillet knife went along my pinkie through my bone. It did not hurt and I thought nothing of it until the bleeding started and I could not get it stopped. so after an hour trying to get in stopped I went to the hospital and they took care of me. I even got a sticker!!!!!

This picture is after an hour of fishing. In the end both fish wells were full and we had to walk around fish on the deck. Jim you did a hell of a job. Now I know why the call you the Montague kid!!!!!

Gary, VERY nice. We went out of Seward, and hammered the rockfish and silvers. Not sure I can do any more fishing this year as the freezer is full . . .

Never play with sharp knives while distracted or intoxicated. (same goes for reloading.) She must have been really good looking!

Always glad to hear of a great trip!
Son and I headed to Homer the 2nd of July and we headed out around the point and fished close to Elizabeth Island. We drifted jigs and lost count of how many butts we caught but am estimating about 25-30. A few hit 35-40 pounds and my son lost a monster early in the day. My son managed to catch about a 50 pound octupus on a jig as well. Tuff critters to get into the boat! Confirms what most of us already know, Homer is Butt capital!

Sorry to hear about your finger. Hope it heals fast.

We fished the same spot you did the next day and didn't do to well. The wind was blowing against the tide and made for a difficult drift.

Sound and looks like you guys had a great time, except for the pinky incident. I soo wish I was on that trip. Nice looking fish.
