    i am wanting to to a bear hunt for the purpose of a nice rug (the meat wont go to waste) which is the best season for the best quality of hide spring or fall? im planing on buying a reservation tag here in az for 2010

    Spring for sure. As long as it opens right as they're waking up- they tend to rub fairly soon, so check them thoroughly for rubs. Why? They have all the thick underfur at that time. Summer/fall hides can also look nice, but mostly what you see is guard hairs, with little fur underneath.

    I have a feeling AZ bears and AK bears are a little more than a world apart...

    Hard for us to say up here what yours will look like down there. Difficult to top a beautiful spring bear, though!

    ive herd rumer a rug will shed after tanning if shot in the wrong season?thanks for the words guys ill keep ya posted.
