Default Coho Cove, Kasilof (Just a little info)

Just got back from Coho Cove in Kasilof. It's right on the river. Less than 1 minute walk from any site to the water. Nice little campground with no hook-ups. Has porta potties though. A boat launch is right there and they have room for plenty of bank fishing. It was nice seeing eagles right across the water making a nest and resting on the bank. We also had a moose visit the site one early morning. Kids loved being able to ride bikes and play by the river. All in all a nice place with friendly owners for only $20.00 a night CoHo Cove Campround, Kasilof AK. Off Cohoe Loop make a right on Webb-Ramsell Rd just after the crooked Creek turnoff. Sign iwill be on right side of road. Phone Number is 907-262-1939. Lastly, this place is currently (21 Jun 09) for sale for $650,000. The owner said he's ready to goof off now. We'd go back.

One of my favorite places. The fish cleaning table is excellent. I stay there 2 or 3 times a year during dip net season. When I hit the fish, I love using that table. They take reservations too.

Sorry to trouble you. Did you say this place is for sale. Is the owner selling the whole complex , i.e the rv park , the lot?

I believe it sold last year or the year before and closed to the public.

If I recall the hole thing was closed last year. Is it open now?

It wasn't open a few weeks ago. i was really bummed as it looked like a good spot to get the kiddo on a fish or two. The camping sites looked nice and close to the river so i could keep an eye on him even if he wasn't fishing. Maybe later this summer?

Just looking for an update on this situation. Does anyone know whether this site is open again or not? Also, for those of you who float the Kasilof, where do you take out, if you launch at the campground near the bridge?

I am aware that the state is doing a feasibility study on a new take-out in the lower river, and it looks likely that it will go through. Anyone have anything recent on that?

    Thanks!

You can take out at Trujillios landing off kbeach or at the kasilof cabins off of north coho.

I was told that Trujillos was shut down?

If you get a chance, I could sure use some input / insights on our new page on this area. The good, the bad, and the ugly. I think I will post a different map, showing the name of the take-out (Kasilof River Lodge). It needs to show the Johnson Lake campground and the put-in below Tustumena Lake. Here is the link: http://www.alaskaoutdoorssupersite.c...insula-fishing.

    Thanks!

Well Trujillo's was operating last summer (2015).
I drove in just to check.
Didn't end up using them but they were set up and open.
Before they closed last time you had to have permission to use their take out(I had permission).
    Might still be that way.

Interesting. My info came from the owner of Kasilof River Lodge; I spoke to him a couple of days ago. I'll have to add Trujillos and Cohoe Cove Campground to the map anyway, and encourage folks to double-check when they get there. I hear Cohoe Cove has been closed a while, but you never know when someone might buy it and re-open the place.

    Much appreciated!

Well Mike I don't know for sure.
I drove in to the pull out as the gates were open. Thecash drop box was there where I remembered it with the envelopes for deposit.
There where trucks with boat trailers in the parking lot down below by the river.
I just assumed they were open as usual for those with permission.
I didn't stop to ask if they were open but all indications were that it was.
Might be worth calling them. I would but I have 2 more weeks on the slope.
Ed's kasilof seafoods is who you would call to ask. http://www.kasilofseafoods.com/Contact_Us_new.htm
