    Default moose kenai penn,

    If you were going moose hunting in sept.in Would you hunt up high or low in the penn ? like say Johnson pass or in that area ?

    You can't shoot them if you can't see them. And you can't see them in the solid Alder thickets, so you are compelled to hunt them high where the Alders thin out. The only other option is around the ponds & lakes. The locals hunt that area, as much of the area around Hope/Sunrise is either closed to moose, or there are no moose, just brown bear poop that was a moose. Oops, there are no Brown Bears on the Kenai Peninsula.

    Most of the Kenai Peninsula really requires a ton of scouting or experience to have a successful hunt. All roads and trails are hit pretty hard by both locals and folks from Anchorage. It's pretty far south and the rut never really starts before the season ends. Guys do well in the permit areas and during bow season however.
