    Default Hamilton 212 "whining"

Just greased my 212 at the grease port just aft of the engine last week and noticed a slight whining noise when the boat was idling afterwards. Is this normal or is it possible that I over greased her? Many thanks in advance!

Any bearing whine is bad. It is possible to overgrease that bearing. Hami recommends 3-4 squirts every 30 hours. Over-greasing can cause the seal to fail and water enter the bearing chamber. There's a weap hole under the bearing housing. If you see any water dripping out that hole no matter how small than water has entered the bearing housing. It's most likely going to get louder and louder, then fail and cause even more damage if you let it go too long.

I hit her with a few squirts and the whine showed up. Not sure what to do at this point, what's it take to change the bearing?
