Thread: Heavy & Slow or Light & Fast

Default Heavy & Slow or Light & Fast

I have trouble shooting full power 44 mag accurately. If I download 315gr hard cast to about 750 fps that is about my limit to keep all shots on target in about 3 seconds.

As a woods gun, would I be better served developing a load with a higher MV and a lighter bullet that achieves the same controlability, or stick with what I have?

    Thanks
    Rob

What pistol are you shooting out of? Barrel length?

Are you a person of 'slight build' or is your nickname 'Thor' (like mine at 6'7" and 320#).

    I'm 5'10" 180. The gun is a 2" Taurus.

I think thats more in line of what the Taurus can handle long term. I would much prefer 900fps but your load may get that out of a longer barrel

How about medium medium? a 250 gr @ 1000 fps is a pretty potent load, and recoil is managable.

I'd suggest doing some penetration tests to see which one performs better.
