Default Need some help, first black bear hunt to Alaska - Homer Area

Hey guys! I was wonder when the best time period is to hunt black bear near Homer, Alaska. We are booking a transporter (boat) and will cruising the coast for hunting spots.

We are planning to hunt in spring season and are really interested in quantity and opportunity ( a record book bear isnt a priority, but a big one is always a plus). My choice is between the 1st and 3rd week of May.

Any help/suggestions would be highly apperciated. I can return the favor if anyone is interested in hunting here in Texas. I have some really good connections down here.

    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Default 3rd week of May

I have hunted that area for the past 2 years and taken 5 bears out of it with my friends and wife. I would suggest waiting until the 3rd week of May. Just my little two cents. First week of may can be way too early some years.
