    Default What is the Proper Technique for Setting Anchor?

    Okay, I have read all of the books and heard from a few folks on this forum about their thoughts on the proper technique for setting anchor. Specifically, I'm concerned about making fast so that you can get yourself through a moderately windy night with the likelihood of swinging around a bit due to wind/current - without throwing your anchor.

    I'm interested in tidbits like whether you tend to set uphill even if the wind is coming from the uphill direction, amount of scope (especially if you're sharing a cove), etc.
