    Default Windfall Creek 2009

Anyone go up for the opener today?

Spent my day dicking around on the flats with the jet...Thinking about possibly going up on Saturday if for nothing else other then the hike...

The thing I love about windfall is that the opener isn't really an opener, it is open all may sockeye fishing is only closed in june and july (for outlet stream) but that doesn't really matter because there are no sockeye in during may, anyways I'll be heading up maybe next wedsday (after work) but will defitnaly hit it next Saturday ( me and the rest of Juneau that is)

I thought about doing it, but I just can't justify the hike for 1 fish, and dealing with all the people..

Kinda thought they might be showing up earlier this year because the chums are so early...

    Default Dirty Dogs

Saw three striped-up dogs in the top of the fish ladder. No kings in the ladder yet. I expect the dogs will show up in force in about a week. Boat fishing in the channel and the dredeged out hole in front of The Barge Lines should be very good till the 4th of July, or so.

From all reports, Fish Cr. / head of Fritz has been pretty slow and well as the cut at Smugglers.

Seen 2-3 kings caught every lunch hour this week. All biting - well, maybe 1 or 2 snagged. Nuttin' for me . . . yet.

Might combat fish Windfall next week. Buddy is going up tonite. Water could be up due to snowmelt. Probably way up last week, but that may may moved fish in.

see ya up there saturday. These clear skies, although nice, aint doing us any favors on the fishin front. Hopefully the snowmelt is enough to draw them up.

Every time I finally work up the energy to actually venture out to Windfall Creek, after 15 minutes standing on the bar watching the 25 other random people fish I realize where I only go up there maybe once a year.

That being said. Last night was my one time for this year.

Hooked into SEVERAL. Landed the same pink salmon sized Dolly twice.

Did not come home with a Sockeye thanks to the kid who likes to put his spinning rod right over the top of my fly rod preventing me from setting the hook without snapping my rod in half.

One day, I will strangle someone up there.
