    Default Kasilof 12, 13, 14 June

We're heading down to the Kasilof to hopefully catch some fish and our 1st king gosh dang it'
Has anyone ever stayed at the Crooked Creek state and/or RV campground?
I've read the info from the web but am looking for the intangibles.
Apparently they are side by side and I am looking for the place with the easiest and best access to the river.
Also is one more kid friendly than the other? Would kid bikes be ok?
Are bears a problem? We have spray.
Man I'm hoping there are some fish after reading the reports from the fish counts.
Thanks for any personal info on either of these sites.

Call the Crooked Creek campground. Better spots, close to the same price and you can even fish from the banks along their campground.

I'll be there that weekend with my girl trying to gethere her fist king.

    Default Cool...

Rod builder, stop by for a beer if you get the chance. Always good to meet new people.
We'll be in a chalet rv 2 kids and 2 dogs and a little bit of chaos.

Man, chuck, I really screwed up that post.
I meant to say the Coho Cove campground. Right on the river and quieter than the campgrounds up above.

    See you there,

Default Where the heck is it?

Rod builder, , or anyone, I've spent the last 30 minutes trying to find Coho Cove campground with no luck
It'll probably end up being operator error but I can't find it. Maybe I need some more coffee
We may see you there if we can find it

That pic is sure a nice demo of the Kasilof flood plain and the how the old river channel(s) skipped across it over the millennia.

If you focus Google Earth over the Kenai, you'll see the same thing... especially from rivermile 14-15 on down. Pretty amazing to see how much real estate is at risk when the big river decides she wants to run a different course!

make a right on webb-ramsell road a mile or so after the crooked creek turn off, then go down the dirt road bout 1/4 of a mile and look for the sign on your right.

    Default Thank you!

Got it. Now we can get there
I found somewhere last night (too tired to respond) that it has 26 sites, 13 river frontage, pottable water, and a dump station. Though I'm not sure that info is correct since it was listed on a different site.
I can't find a phone number for the place to call. I googled it and tried Kasilof white pages to no avail.
Do any of you know what they do have there and are reservations necessary? Wife would like to know about amenities if any ie. electric and or anything else.
All else failing, we'll prbably just show up Fri. night
    Thanks again.

    Default Where is Kasilof Kabins?

How much further downstream is the Kasilof Kabins? Which road do you turn on from the main road? I drove by - and went down to the beach, but didn't see any signs.

    Default Thank you!!!

jkrobin3, the phone number worked, a big thank you.
Wonder why I couldn't find it?
Just got off the phone and have a riverside space reserved for next weekend. $20 bucks a night. The young lady said we should be able to bank fish right next to the rv. Weeeehoooooo!

I did let the young lady know the info for the site was almost nonexistent on the web.

rippinlip, she said all the have is water at or by the office and a dump station. We'll see, it's only a couple nights anyways.

If anyone is down there stop by for a beer. We're in a Chalet rv with temp tag in back window. Here's to next weekend!!

    Thanks again fellas!

    You're welcome.

I got the number from a buddy of mine that lives across the river from there.

    Good luck.
