    Default 3 1/2 legged bear

Just had to share thepics of what we have named stubby. When I first say the pics I thought that maybe the camera was just catching him as he lifted the rear leg up but am now convinced that he was maybe caught in a snare or something....what are your thoughts.....

yeah, in that first pic, definitely looks like he broke it, kinda bent forwards. must be pretty tough if its an older injury.

    Wow,

It's rare to see that. He seems to be in good shape regardless of his injury.

On Jim Shockey's DVD Stalking Aggressive Bears he is stalking a boar with a deformed leg. In your pic the leg is smaller then the other 3. Which would lead me to believe the bear was born with a deformity.

and was able to survive though? musta had a pretty cush life for a bear if it was born with it. my bet is its an injury, maybe a year old at the most. nature's pretty ruthless to allow too many deformities, but i suppose nothing is outside the realm of possibility

    Hey Nick~
Pretty rare to see that and capture it on film. I didn't see it when you initially sent me those pics, but you are definately right. Must have been a recent accident or birth defect.

Good lucking bear otherwise. Good luck bro.

Hey thanks for the replies....If yo look at the pic with him closest to the trail cam it almost looks like his right rear upper part of his leg was caught in a snare a ended up losing all blood flow to that leg.....just a thought, have a look and let me know.....thanks again and wish you were here for the ventures Ryan, stay safe and shoot back then ask questions.....

Like someone said , pretty good shape for a bear with only three legs.

But if mother nature does not dispatch them, it is amazing how they do adapt.
