Upper Kenai Float June 6
It's getting a little late for a shakedown trip, so let's call it a "Calm Before The Fishing Storm" float. You're invited to bring your boat, your lunch and a little sunshine for a float on the upper Kenai River from the lake to Jim's Landing next Saturday June 6. If you don't have a boat, you'll need to post to this list and invite yourself on someone else's boat.
Meet at the put-in at the bridge at Kenai Lake in Cooper Landing at 10:00. We'll run shuttle at 11:00, start floating at Noon, and be at the take out before 6:00. It's a 2-hour ride from Anchorage to Cooper Landing. All types of floating craft are welcome to join the fray. The river's a little low, and there's no fishing allowed, so the crowds are minimal. It costs $5 to launch your boat plus $5 for day parking at the lake. Parking at Jim's is free.
This is a follow-up to the KCK raft class for newer boaters to get practice, but it's not a KCK-sponsored trip and we're all on our own. All people & anything that floats are encouraged to come.
If there's any channel grooming to be done with chainsaws, this might be the work party day.
Email the group if you're interested, if you have a boat of some type, if you can carpool, or have questions. Carpool people need to confirm their space with each other in advance, and meet at Carr's Huffman coffee shop at 7:45 am. Some may want to camp and potluck (and I may join you) but that's beyond my level of commitment.

A few boats coming this Sat. June 6
Update - We've got 2 rafts, 4 IK's and some sea kayakers who declined because they were probably a little too tippy to be on the water this Sat. at 10:00 at the Kenai Lake bridge.
