Doug at Cameraland NY is the go to guy for optics purchases for sure. I bought my Pentax spotter and a couple eyepieces from him and so have many others here. He's also a forum sponsor and his customer service is top notch.

I have had the PENTAX DCF SP 10x43's since they first came out. Excellent binos in my opinion. All my friends who have ever looked through them are wowed as well.

    Default Check that.

My first thought was that I live in ER and usually trade locally.

Second thought: Them is some DEALS, Doug! Wow.

Im real partial to Boondocks too... (bought my first rifle there back in the mid 70's as a matter of fact) but have been buying quality optics from Doug for years now... even before he started sponsoring this section of the forums. He's fair, and honest, and cares about his alaskan customers. Next best thing to "trading locally" IMHO

So I understand. Fishing first...I look forward to this trip every year. There is just something so refreshing about our annual Alaska fishing trip that it is beyond words. I've fished all over (Panama, Costa Rica, Cabo, Caribbean, North East Atlantic, etc) and there is nothing that compares to Alaska for an overall enjoyable & relaxing experiance.
