    Default Are those for real?

They look like little toy figurines or something.

For real. That's the mom's ear in the lower right of the picture.

If you rugged one of them out, that would be the funniest conversation starter by far!

    Or argument starter...

    Default Funniest thing

The squirrels around this bait are ADDICTS. I was met about 50 feet from the bait the other evening by an angry squirrel on the ground in front of me barking at me like he was chewing my butt good. I thought nothing of it except to think that I need to start bringing a small pistol in for instances like this...

I got to the bait site, set the bags of bait down and walked over to the trailcam. That squirrel started tearing into my pack FULL FORCE, looking for his CRACK!

I was dying for my videocamera.

    How cool is this?!

Except that the brown bears have moved into our bait area and we haven't seen a black bear in weeks...

    Enjoy,

Marc, great pics!! My wife "OOOOHHHHH'd" at the baby bear pics. Funny thing is it'd be legal to stick those little guys in some areas! No barrel??

Barrel - We've got access to so much bait that a barrel would back the bait up into our living rooms. We don't use oils, just syrups, molasses and the like, so there's no contamination of soil. We stop baiting before the end of season and there's really nothing left to clean up but a wrapper or two.

It's been a really successful operation in the past, but this year the brownies have taken over.

Last Wednesday night I had 7 count 'em 7 different brown bears under me. A couple were trophy anywhere except near this bait. Bummer.

Great recreation, though, as all bear baiters know.

    Here's another neat one...

We pulled the bait. Nothing, I mean nothing but brown bears coming in and many of them. Kenai biologists take note: You have NO IDEA how many brown bears there are on the Kenai Peninsula. Otherwise, there would be a season limit of 2 like over in 16.

I think I've got pictures of over 30 different bears.

    It's ridiculous, really.

That would be about 11% of all the brown bears the Interagency Brown Bear Study Team says exist on the Kenai Peninsula.

I wonder how they'd explain that?

    Well said Marc.
I have literally seen more brown bears than bull moose in the last few years.
