    Question fly tying question

went to the tackle shop the other day looking for some olive zonker strips. they didn't have strips, but had a full olive rabbit hid efor close to the same price as the strips. I figured what the heck - can't be too hard to cut a 1/4" strip from the hide. Right.
t tried cutting the strips with the hair down & basically ended up with a strip wirh hair about 1/8" long on it.
So,,,, what is the proper way to cut zonker strips from a full hide?
    thanks

that is a neat idea...I've always used a razor and a ruler, but I like that method better....

Default If ya skip the speed dial step...

It's quick - once you have the cutter assembled. Plus, it's double-sided - plenty of sharp edges to use.

By all means avoid the ER speed dial scenario: After speed dialing the ER, being driven there, telling your story, having the ER staff call their buddies in to hear it again "how'd you cut your arm six times...accidentally... and so neatly?" Pretty soon, you're in Jeff Foxworthy's new act...("A fly tying fisherman in Anchorage, Alaska decided he'd save some time...and make new friends...")
