    Default .348 Wincester Loads Anyone?

    Hi Guys,

I just purchased a Winchester Mod. 71 in .348 Winchester. I'm looking for some load data. I have found some, but as we all know powder is hard to find right now. Do any of you guys load for the .348, and what do you use?

I have some reloader 7, Reloader15, IMR 3031,4198,4320, H-322, 748. Anyopne use any of these powders?

    Thanks for the help.

    Jim

    Default h4350

I've worked up loads for 5 Win 348's. I use H4350, as it seems to give best velocities. What's amazing is that all five shot identical with each increase and all was at their best with the exact load (65grs). That is 1 grain less than max according to Hodgon's manual. Pressure signs were ok with case expansion of .0006, and extraction good. This gives a little under 2600fps with 200 gr Hornady. Of the powders you listed, I do not see them on my loading data, but AD's link might.

    Thumbs up 71

In my Win 71 I use Reloader 19 and Barnes 250gr FN. Have yet to find a more accurate powder for the 348 win.

Love this thread. I have a mod 71 that I was given as a gift from a friend. I haven't had a need, or a chance to work up loads yet. This will be a great start.

    thx

I just checked my old Lyman manuals, and they have data for 200 grain jacketed bullets using IMR 3031, 4895, 4064, 4320 and 4350,. plus H380 and the old 4831. Fastest vel is with 63.0 grains of IMR 4350 @ 2564. Same powders for 220 grain jacketed, with the fastest again IMR 4350 at a max of 60 grains and 2463 fps. Cases were Remington and primers were Remington 9 1/2. The 200 grain bullet was a Remington SPCL and the 220 was a Speer SP.

    Thumbs up H4831

Reloader 19 is my first pick with 200 gr or 250 gr.

If you do have RL 19 the H4831 worked well with the Hornady 200gr FN.
