    Default Halibut in the Kelp

Guys when we are fishing out of Homer one of the days my buddy wants to run to the kelp to look for some butts. he tells me its shallower and i can set out my scent bombs with herring oil and we will anchor and have at it. I keep hearing about halibut in deep water. Is the halibut fishing that good in the shallower kelp beds? How about the size?

You tell me, these 2 are out of our little "honey hole" .... 25ft of water at the lowest tide and no one around.

Default fishing shallow can be HOT!

the kelp produces big time, especially on large tides.
no reason to fish deep if you don't have to!!
