Default probably answered a million times, but....

I am looking for the halibut charter with the best chance of catching a 100 lb. or better fish. I know that there can be no guarantees, and would not expect one. I would just really like to get my big brother on a triple digit fish sometime. Any help is really appreciated. Thanks!

Try Capt. Tony on Falcon charters out of Homer. I've personally seen some really big fish come off his boat.

Pro Fish -N - Sea charters out of Seward and Cracker Jack Charters out of Seward.

Don't go on a combo trip and plan on fishing long and hard.

That is what I would do if that was my target.

Be prepared to be the guy not catching as many fish and use big bait. Tell Steve or Andy what your after and they will do their best with no guarentees. It is realistic.

Or pay the money and go to Kodiak in July or August.

charter out the whole boat and tell the captain what you are looking to do. This way you can sit and soak for the fish you're looking for. good luck

I have gone with Josh Brooks on the Huntress out of Homer twice in the last week. Good fishing yesterday 1 fish around 70 and a wide open bite the whole time we were down. Rock fish fishing was excellent as well. Josh works out of Bobs trophy charters in Homer. The guys great and loves to put people on fish. Six pack boat=more time to target bigger fish......Highly recommended.

    Default all good advice...

    charter a 6-pack.
make sure the skipper has been at it a while....
    owner operator a plus...
the fewer openings there are the more likely the boat has a steady clientele...
    good luck.

Yup, that's another great tip. Plan on spending a few extra bucks though.

Heres one my buddy caught two years ago with capt Peter his boat is the Sorceress.
We have caught a few with him that broke the 100# mark.
We had to book him last June for a spot this year, I think he books up real early..
Hes a pretty good guy and we always get some nice fish with him..
