Talking 2859 Bayliner anchor locker question

Anyone out there have a 2859? I'm trying to figure out how much anchor rod I can get in the anchor locker. I have about 250' in mine now and want to replace it and hope to put 400' or 500' in it. How much do you other 2859 owners carry?

look at getting some amsteel line. You can run a much smaller diameter then most lines with the same if not more strength. It's a little pricey, but what isn't for a boat. get some 3/8, it's plenty strong for that boat.

You might also look at 8-plait line. Takes up half the space as three-strand. More expensive, though.

Thanks. I have a Sea Ray 300DB that has a small rode locker. I was not going to put a new windlass on it because I don't have the space for 600' of rope.

    This may change my thinking.

Thanks for that link bhollis. I've heard about it but after reading that info, that's exactly what I was looking for.

Do you have a windlass? If so any problems with not laying the rope properly in the locker area?
