    As of Sunday evening:

Canoe--half open on Sunday morning; might be completely open now
    Irene--still covered
    Echo--completeley open
Matanuska--completely open as of Sunday evening,
    Long--still covered
    Loberg--completely open
    Kepler--85% open
    Bradley--still covered
    Mirror--95% covered
    Fire--still covered

Fished Loberg and Echo Saturday; Matanuska on Sunday. I'd call if slow; water temps were at a low Saturday a.m. of 43 degrees; by Sunday evening I had 50 degree readings in some lakes. Temperature is good; oxygen levels might still be a little low keeping fish lethargic. Caught more fish in Matanuska than the others.

I would predict that all vally lakes will be fishable by next weekend. More pics to follow.

Man, I can't remember the last time I spent the better part of an early May day, in a float tube wearing a short sleeved shirt, and feeling like I needed to remove a layer. Last year at this time I was dressed up like it was October.

Anyone got any news from farther north?

I suspect the Talkeetna area lakes won't be open for another week or two...

Around 5 pm today I drove by Wasilla Lake and ice was very thin, still covering most of the lake, and on the verge of busting wide-open. (I saw it from the road and in traffic; so if I missed any open water please forgive me.) Minutes later I had a better look at Lake Lucille and saw plenty of open water, with little ice at all.

    Hope this information helps!

Virtually all of the Wasilla and palmer area lakes are completely ice free now. The only exception I know of there is Wasilla Lake, which at 9:00 tonight was still about half covered with ice.
