    Default Kenai

Me and my wife were going to fish around Anchorage on the weekend of the 15th but decided to get out of town instead. So we are going down towards Kenai. I looked at the regs and from what I can tell Kings are open? Is there any places anyone would suggest to try out?

This early you're pretty much looking at saltwater. They're not in the river yet.

When the wodrl record king salmon was caught by Les Anderson on the Kenai River the day was May 17. So, giving the Kenai a try around the 15th is not such a bad idea.
From the bank it is tough though. But some are caught every year by bankies at confluence of the Moose - Kenai River, Morgans Landing, and Centenial Campground. Another spot to try would be down by the Warren Ames Bridge as there is a deep slot on the south side of the river that the kings tend to run up but I would try this spot on either a low tide or just as the tide starts in. Good luck.
