    Default salmon eggs fishing tips

I'll be in the Anchorage area the middle of August , my first trip to Alaska . I feel that I should have a couple ways of fishing eggs either the bottled kind or netting with the real thing , not sure which way to go , would be nice to have some ideas for fly fishing and for the spinning rod . I hope to be catching , pinks , silvers and chum . Thanks

    Default cured roe

I most often use a glob of row and run it through an egg loop tied hook. I drift it with a sliding sinker or alone for silvers right at the clear/murky water meetup.

    Default neither

I would go buy a 10$ bag of eggs from wally's world that is treated already - not the jarred kind - nor the netting. Use an egg loop and a half dollar to quarter chunk of cured roe with the skein on - no lower 48 fish up here

You can catch trout with the single egg set ups but I would use roe for salmon.

Thanks for the info guys , I did a search for the loop knot and that shouldn't be a problem , Wally world has skein ???? That would make things easy as I didn't want to try and cure my own . What size hook for silvers and chum ??

I use 1/0-3/0 for everything except kings.
It ain't about the # of pounds of meat we bring back, nor about how much we spent to go do it. Its about seeing what no one else sees.

On a side note I don't think I have ever caught a chum on eggs. But if you want to pull silvers out of a school of mixed fish the roe works great. Not saying you can't catch chums with eggs I just never have.
Chums will agressivly take flys and spinners and what not.
