    Default Barge at 20 mile

Went by 20 mile yesterday and there is a Barge/Tug and bowpicker setting just below the mouth of the river. You can't see the bowpicker but its tied up on the other side of the barge. Any idea whats going on?

They were there last fall and early winter. I was told and forgot what they are doing but it is something like mapping the channels, Installing a cable or some quasi-science thingie. If you can access the "Turnagain Times" newspaper there was an article and photo's about the project.

    Default GCI

I was told last fall that GCI was going to be laying a new fiber-optic line from Alaska to either Oregon or Seattle (via Whittier) that was going to run down the middle of Turnagain Arm.

I saw that barge out there today (Sunday). I am pretty sure that is what they are doing.
