Default Anyone have a flywheel puller for old mercs?

Anyone around fairbanks happen to have a flywheel puller tool for an old merc? Mine is a late 60's early 70's vintage 50hp.

I'd love to borrow it from you or buy it if you don't need it any more.

I'm also going to work my around the local shops and see if they might have one from the old days still in a tool box somewhere that I could borrow for a day

    thanks!

I have one, threads into the flywheel and has a center that screws down onto the crank and pulls off the flywheel. I used it on an inline 6 cyn mercury many years ago. Can't believe I could even find it. Give me a call if you want to try it.

Thanks Steve - I'll do that! That's exactly the kind the manual for this old beast says that I need.

Thanks again Steve, but I'll have to bring that puller back to you sometime, it's not the right size. Yours is about an inch OD on the big part, my flywheel is about 1.5" ID...so the puller has to be a lot bigger.

Anyone else have one laying around that fits the bill?

well i couldn't find one...got fed up and used a three jaw gear puller...

it wasn't as slick a removal as I'd hoped the real puller would be, but it worked.

In the end I got my flywheel swapped, but my starter is tango uniform so now I need to find a new starter...ugh gotta love a 40 year old motor!
