I read that some guys tried it last weekend, and there was still too much snow.

About 3/4 the way up the trail to Ruby Lake we ran into too much snow to continue.

We are thinking of trying it again next week, anything to get away from Knin!

For what it's worth, I was up at Jonesville / Slipper Lake area today. While the pit is snow free (with various levels of mud), the side trails were still snow covered, with what looked like 6 inches or so. I checked out the start of the Buffalo Mine trail, that mining road heading north, and the Jonesville Mine Road (towards Eska Falls). You know where it says "state maintenance ends here"--well, there's plenty of snow still on that unmaintained part. I can only imagine as you head further up in altitude, the snow only gets deeper.
