Default halibut/rock fish from a small boat

I have a 13' valco v-bottom boat with a 15 hp motor and was looking for some info on a place to take it for some halibut or rock fish thanks for any advice.

It is possible, however, where do you plan to fish? Kodiak, Homer, Ketchikan?

id give passage canal a try. id run out to pigot point sticking close to shore but id be wary and not go any farther than that. wells passage can get nasty and confusing. been out of valdez all the way to galena bay in my 14 foot smokercraft but had to pick my time and stick close to shore. valdez is a long drive though. i wouldnt go out of seward in a small skiff or deep creek but id do homer in close and just be prepared to stay put if need be. cross when possible and stay close to land. bring equipment to stay overnight if need be.
