    Default Anchor Point Tactor Launch

Has anyone heard whether there will be a tractor launch at Anchor Point this year and if so, when it will start?

Default No tractors ready for the new contract yet!

I was just talking to a friend who guides down in Anchor Point today and found out that the new guy they awarded the tractor launch permit to isn't even geared up due to the extreme short notice (30 days). So there will be no tractors running on May 1st, per the contract. The charters that normally run out of Anchor Point are already planning on having to launch out of Homer. The original tractor guy still has all his equipment there (and was actually down in L-48 to purchase a new tractor when he lost the bid), but since he was voted out he won't be able to run it.

Sounds like the gov't mucked it all up again.

    Default wow

This is great really letís look at it this way. New guy a little slow to start but orders some tractors and gears up then with the prices he charges should be able to pay a couple of them tractors off, Now next year its up for bid again and now the old guy and the new guy both want to run it. What would you do or give up to keep or get the tractor launch business????? I love a free market. &^$$#$ service and we back off and let the other guy in to run it for a while; when he gets to big for his britches we campaign to get him out. This is good for us Alaskans. I donít know any of the tractor folks but it sounds good to me.

Ouch. That fee is a little steep. Maybe we should be campaining the state to put some checks and balances in place.
