when you install your heater just put the trap/filter in-line on the supply side to the heater....water will go from motor, through filter, to heater, and back....

I'm no expert but I think the filter serves to keep crud out of your heater, at least on mine anyways...so I wouldn't worry about it until you get a heater...

Sand trap isn't a bad idea in any case, even without a heater. The water lines that cool the fuel injection rails and the ports they attach to are fairly small and have been known to plug up with crud, usually small pieces of sticks, leaves, not so much sand but it all gets pumped and anything big enough to plug that stuff up gets nailed by the trap. I run clear water for the most part and it has its share of junk, especially in the spring. Easier to prevent than fix... Got mine from Compeaus here in FBX, not sure of the brand. Light tan color with a clear bowl, oh, and they told me to mount it where the possibility of it getting fuel on it is low. Fuel will destroy the bowl immediately. Something to think about.

    Default Sea Ark Predator

I own the Sea Ark predator with the 200hp Mercury Optimax. I have installed the sand trap and heater myself. If you have any questions about the boat, send it to me.

    Thanks,
    C.W.
