Thread: 22 ammo in the midwest

Default 22 ammo in the midwest

Not sure what you folk are facing in Alaska but you can't buy 22 rimfire ammo in the midwest! Wally World, Kmart, even the farm and home stores are wharehouse out. I bought 10 bricks a couple of months ago for $15/brick. Two weeks ago Thiesens Farm Supply had the same Winchester Super X's for $28/brick and they sold them out in a matter of hours even at those prices. The shelves are bare everywhere!

What's the deal? Is there a huge demand for it these days, or has there just been limited production?

Hmm... I just bought 5000 rounds of Federal 40 gr solids for $200 on my lunch break!

There were several cases there when I bought it... so I don't know!

Your right, 10 boxes of 50 rounds is a brick. I was thinking 10 boxes and my brain spit out 1000 rounds.

Who had them all stocked up?

Guns shops and gun counters are wiped clean of most 22LR around Anchorage.
What comes in gets scooped up!...and it is pricey!

Mass hysteria, feeding frenzy, much like powder and primers I guess.
CMP has 22LR Standard Velocity for $270 case lot deliverd to AK, but they are backlogged, back ordered as well.
    Interesting times!

You guys are going to hate this...

A 550 round box of Federal 22LR at Wal Mart down here in AZ is $14.95, it sounds like those AK dealers are putting it to you.

If I could I'd bring up several boxes for Ya but that isn't likely to happen until July.

I was at the local Wal Mart today. Remington 550 bulk pack for 15.50. I passed as I really dont care for Rem .22. They get in Win and CCI on a regular basis and sell them out quickly. I try to pick up a couple bricks every week or two.

I'm coming up to do a little Halibut fishing with my uncle in Homer and Kings with my Brother in Kasilof.

If I had a request for some ammo to be packed in my bag I would consider it if it would really help you out.

Dang hazmat shipping fees is what most of it is, can’t expect the dealers not to pass it along to us.

Paradise tax is what they call it in Hawaii . . . we should call it “hunters paradise tax” here in Alaska!

Marshall: The ten bricks I bought 2 months ago were the same Federals @ Wally World that you of speak of. There are no more in the midwest! If they are still available in the south and southwest then I'd be grabbing them!
