    Default Bird Houses

I have a bunch of scrap red cedar and thought about constructing some houses... any issues with the odor of cedar that might repel birds? It tends to mellow out with a little time, so I would guess the answer is probably no issues.

I don't think birds have the sense of smell, but Iím not 100% on that.

No problems at all. I've built literally hundreds of houses out of cedar (for fund raisers) and we have birds in them right away.

Birds have a sense of smell, some are exceptional. Cedar is very good for bird houses. Also, if you have a problem with hornets over taking your boxes just coat the interior ceiling with veggie/olive oil. Do not coat the sides. Good luck.
